About Us
Our Background
The neighborhood was created on 13 February 2014 (the day neighborhoods were released!) by Wonko Z Sane and Flunista.
"Outside The Asylum" is a reference to a Douglas Adams book - So Long, And Thanks for All The Fish. Wonko the Sane was a minor character in the book, and was responsible for constructing an inside-out house he called Outside the Asylum. The implication is that he recognized the world was crazy, and built an asylum for it. But, he wanted to live outside - so his house is called "Outside the Asylum." Trivia: In the book, Wonko decided the world had gone mad when he noticed that detailed instructions for use were printed on a box of toothpicks.
So, on that note, we want a sane environment in our neighborhood.
Some basics about us:
Our Core Value is "Community > Gameplay"
- We are about fun first and foremost. Anything that takes the fun out of Hay Day is going to get swatted down.
- We think fun includes being nice, helpful, polite, and not being mean. Mean people suck, and we kick them. (With a smile!)
- We look out for each other and don't tolerate public "infighting" in the neighborhood. We are very selective in who we allow to stay.
- We do kick a lot of new people within minutes. This is not us being mean - it is us recognizing quickly who will fit in well.
- We are not: A leaderboard neighborhood - though sometimes we might go nuts on an event as a group for fun.
- We are not: A diamond-oriented neighborhood. Our members spend very little if anything on diamonds.
- We require (currently) level 29 to join Outside The Asylum
- We usually leave membership as Invite-Only unless we want new players.
- We chat a lot. If you don't like to participate in the neighborhood chat (at least some) then this probably isn't the group for you.
- We are all adults. There may be a few people under 18 in the neighborhood - but they behave very maturely for their age.
Basic protocol
- When selling to neighbors, we put a single wheat for sale in the right-most slot on the shop. Buy it when you get there and we will post the agreed upon item. (This lets the seller know you are there and helps avoid sniping.)
- When we sell items to each other, we normally use the default price. Special situations might modify this protocol - check chat.
- When we sell items to the public and place ads we generally use full price.
- Please consider asking your neighbors if they would like expansion items before you put them on public sale - even if you need full price!
- Flunista keeps a list of everyone's barn and silo capacity. We try to help people upgrade based on the following formula:
- Add a zero to your level and then add 100 and round up to the nearest capacity. (Example: Level 49 -> 490 -> 590 -> 600)
